About
Julie Anne has called Las Vegas her home for over sixteen years. She grew up in New Jersey and Texas but moved to Las Vegas to attend UNLV’s Hotel College. Although she did not choose the culinary school path (other than “mom’s cooking school”), Julie Anne has always had a passion for cooking and baking, and her talent developed through years of experimenting and practicing in the kitchen. She prides herself on food that is unique yet approachable, using only the best ingredients in her made-from-scratch creations.
After graduating from Duke's MBA program, Julie Anne returned to Las Vegas. A few years later, she opened Julie Anne's, a gourmet specialty foods store. Inspired by regional stores such as Foster's Market and Barefoot Contessa, Julie Anne's offered simple, elegant food and gourmet gifts in a comfortable atmosphere.
Julie Anne closed her store in 2006, but she received many inquiries from former customers who needed a birthday cake or craved one of her decadent brownies. In 2009, she decided to start catering again, offering her same signature menu items along with custom cakes and cookies on a smaller, more personal level.
Julie Anne’s custom desserts have appeared in People, O.K.!, and Star magazines. Her Sweet Potato Layer Cake and Malt Shop Cupcakes competed on an episode of Food Network’s Ultimate Recipe Showdown, where she took home the $25,000 grand prize. Julie Anne’s writing and recipes have been featured in Everyday with Rachael Ray, Nevada Magazine, Hannaford Fresh, Taste of Home, and Relish magazines. She also publishes a blog,
Peanut Butter and Julie, and she is currently working on her first cookbook, a collection of recipes from the Julie Anne’s bakery/café.
Julie Anne has been married to Eric for six years, and they have two dogs, Cameron and Fenway (named after Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke and Fenway Park.) Outside of the kitchen, she enjoys yoga, hiking, traveling, and of course trying new restaurants.
